Heroes and Horses
EquiCenter’s Heroes and Horses program is helping wounded veterans and their families heal.
The program offers therapeutic horseback riding and horsemanship as an effective tool for improving muscle stimulation, strength, coordination, flexibility, posture and balance for the wounded veteran’s physical injuries.
In addition to the physical benefits, therapeutic equestrian activities help with often less visible wounds experienced by veterans, including Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI).

As the number of wounded veterans in the program increases, the EquiCenter will continue to support those who have given so much for our country. Our long-term goals are to develop best practices and measurable program outcomes for the benefit of veterans and their families across the country.
The Heroes and Horses program is made possible by a grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. In addition, the Bob Woodruff Foundation supports the program as part of its effort to invest in national and community-based programs that address the full spectrum of issues today’s service members and their families face.
“ Inside the ring, I gained confidence, trust, purpose, and focus. Outside the ring . . . I really think I have developed greater hope and healing in the process.”
